Enrollment Requirements

The Graduate School requires graduate students must enroll in a minimum number of credits to be considered full-time. (see below)

However, the Math Department’s minimum is at least 6 credits each semester to be considered full - time, except in the summer and except for dissertators.
The minimum number of credits for full time status depends largely on your funding status.

If the Graduate School’s (or other campus administrative unit) minimum credit requirement is less than Math Dept’s minimum, students need to follow the Math Dept.
However, if the Graduate School’s (or other unit) minimum requirement is more than the Math Dept’s minimum, students need to follow the Graduate School’s requirement.
Examples of other administrative units may include International Student Services, Financial Aid, particular fellowships, etc.

The Math Dept does not offer ‘part time’ status except under extenuating circumstances.

If you have an RA or have a Fellowship (domestic and international students):

Non-Dissertators:
Fall or Spring semesters, at least 8 graduate credits for a grade (not pass/fail or audit)
