TA Program

The Math Department provides financial assistance for  most of the students accepted into the PhD program.  The majority of the assistance comes in the form of a Teaching Assistant position in the Math classes offered by the Department.

Occasionally in the Fall semester, we will hire graduate students from other departments who are interested in teaching.  We rarely hire in the Spring semester because there are fewer classes being taught.  TA assignments for the Fall semester are not finalized until the week before school starts in late August.  All of the Math PhD students are assigned to the positions first and then whatever is left is what is considered for other students outside the department.  NOTE: To be eligible for a limited-term Teaching Assistantship, an applicant should meet the academic standards/ requirements of his/her home academic department.

For the Fall & Spring semesters, we do NOT expect to hire any more TAs.

We will NOT know, for sure, until the week before classes begin.  If positions are available, an announcement will be made on the Job Center Website and posted here.

TA Application (for students outside the Math Department)

Application is not available unless we have posted an opening for a position on the Student Job Center website

Occasionally we hire students for grader positions as well, see the link for that application as well.

Grader Application

You may submit an application but we will not know how many (if any) positions are available until the week before classes begin.
