Homework

There will be a weekly homework assignment, which will be posted in advance here. They will be due on Tuesdays, to be turned in during your section. To facilitate fair, accurate, and timely homework grading, I will not accept late homework except in extreme cases.

Exams

There will be two in-class midterms and one final. The final exam will be on Friday, 12/18/2015, 10:05AM - 12:05PM. Except in exceptional circumstances, the university requires that you take the final exam at the above scheduled time. In particular, an exam may not be rescheduled due to travel arrangements. If you do have an emergency or other legitimate conflict with the above exam date, please let me know as soon as possible. I use the same policy for midterm exams. If you are sick or have an emergency the day of the exam you need to get a note from a doctor.

The two in-class midterms were held on 10/5/2015 and 11/6/2015.

Version A of the first exam can be found
here. The median score was 57, or 71.25%. Your score corresponds to a grade according to the following curve: For an A, you need at least 68 points. For an AB, you need at least 64 points. For a B, you need at least 57 points. For a BC, you need at least 53 points. For a C, you need at least 45 points. For a D, you need at least 40 points.

Version A of the second exam can be found here. The median score was 45, or 85.45%. Your score corresponds to a grade according to the following curve: For an A, you need at least 52 points. For an AB, you need at least 50 points. For a B, you need at least 45 points. For a BC, you need at least 40 points. For a C, you need at least 36 points. For a D, you need at least 30 points.

Use of calculators will not be allowed for quizzes or exams. You must bring a valid UW Photo ID to all exams.
If you are eligible for special consideration on exams, please let me know as soon as possible, so that I can ensure that your needs are accommodated.
Note that the library has exams from previous years.

Help

Don't let your questions go unanswered or your confusion unresolved. There are several resources available when you want some help outside of lecture and discussion:

Grading

There will be homeworks collected once a week, quizzes, two midterms, and a final. The grade breakdown will be: 20% section grade (including quizzes and homeworks), 20% each midterm, 40% final.
Section grades will be adjusted at the end of the semester, so that even if your TA grades harder than another TA, that will not adversely effect your grade.

Email Policy

All questions should first be directed to your TA. If your TA does not know the answer to your question they will ask me and get back to you. Please email me only from your wisc.edu email otherwise your email might get sent to the spam folder. Short direct questions that require short answers are best. If you have a longer question please ask me after class or during office hours.
