Sigurd Angenent

Research
My research currently focusses on heat and diffusion equations in differential geometry. Curve Shortening is the simplest nontrivial example of such an equation (the video shows an example of a solution of Curve Shortening). Other examples include Mean Curvature Flow and Ricci Flow.
My other current research interest is in applications of mathematics to biology.

Teaching
In spring 2013 I am teaching math 222, second semester calculus. Here is the course website.
