Scheduling and Grading
Your Math 221 grade will be based on 500 points according to Professor Peters' course description. In particular, it will be based on discussion section (50 points), a first midterm exam (100 points), a second midterm exam (150 points), and a final exam (200 points).

The fifty points from discussion section will be determined predominantly by quizzes, though homework will be collected. Most weeks there will be a short quiz (roughly fifteen to twenty minutes) at the end of the period on Thursday. Only your top ten quizes will be figured into your grade. This is also when the week's homework assignment will be collected.

Review sessions will likely be held shortly before the midterm exams and the final exam. Specifics will be announced as each exam draws near.

Technology Policy
Using a graphing calculator and/or a computer algebra systems can often be useful on homework (and sometimes necessary), so is encouraged. However, keep in mind that calculators and computer algebra systems will not be allowed on exams or quizes, so try not to become too reliant on them. Not to worry -- both will be written so that calculators will not be necessary.
