The grade for the class will be determined by your homework, participation, problem write-ups, and two exams.
Participation (25%), Midterm and Final (20% each), Homework (10%), Problem Reports (25%). The final will take place on the Tuesday December 19th.
I will post homework assignments on this page in case you lose the in-class handouts or miss class for some reason.
Absence policy: You are allowed two absences for any reason. After that, each time you are absent 3 points will be deducted from your participation grade. The only exception is for family emergencies, which of course are always excused.

- If you missed the first day of class I would like for you to a) read over my absence policy above, or in the course info handout and b) work through the Monty Hall handout on your own and write a short reflection essay on it (no more than 1-2 pages). Is there a strategy that can be considered 'optimal'? Defend your answer. What are other strategies that you think people might try to use? Why are those strategies not as good as your strategy? Don't worry too much about getting the right answer, just spend a short amount of time thinking about it.
- If you're not on the class mailing list: make sure you are registered for the course, and that UW has your email address. go to my.wisc.edu

Feedback
Feel free to anonymously send me feedback. I'm most interested in how the
content is working for you, although I'm certainly happy to hear about the
structural aspects of the course as well (too much discussion/not enough
discussion/I'm the meanest grader ever). What content did you find
interesting? Did we move through a topic too quickly? What did you find
confusing or frustrating, and what can I do to help prevent that from
happening?
Note that this feedback form won't work if you arrived at this page by typing http://math.wisc.edu/~galindo/132/132.html, it will only work if you put a "www" at the start of the address, i.e.: http://www.math.wisc.edu/~galindo/132/132.html
