    Textbook:

    Elementary Mathematics for Teachers, by Thomas H. Parker and Scott J. Baldridge (Sefton-Ash Publishing, 2003, Complete Package of one textbook and five workbooks for elementary students (grades 3-6), $67.00)

    This book is part of the Singapore Math program, which was developed in Singapore and is now also used at many U.S. schools, including two elementary schools in Madison.

    The UW University Bookstore  has copies of this package. (Note that you will want to purchase this book package from the UW Bookstore; it is not available anywhere on the web except from singaporemath.com at a higher price due to shipping cost.)

    Quizzes: Every Wednesday

    EXAMS:

    There will be two midterm exams. These will be 50 minutes exams held in class, and at the usual lecture time. "Make-up Exams" cannot be given, except in the most unusual circumstances.
    Calculators are discouraged for any part of this course and will not be allowed during exams and quizzes.

    • Midterm Exam 1: Monday, October 10
    • Midterm Exam 2: Monday, November 14
    • Final Exam: Sunday, December 18, 7:45 - 9:45 a.m.(!) in B105  Van Vleck

    Final Exam date is firm!
    Grading Policy: quizzes 10%, each midterm exam 25%, and final exam 40%.
