Description: In 2004 Per-Olof Persson and Gilbert Strang wrote a paper in SIAM Review:

P.-O. Persson, G. Strang, A Simple Mesh Generator in MATLAB,
SIAM Review, Volume 46 (2), pp. 329-345, June 2004.
This paper introduced a set of MATLAB scripts, which can be freely downloaded from the following website:

DistMesh - A Simple Mesh Generator in MATLAB (written by Persson and Strang)
Matthew Elsey and I have written a C++ version of DistMesh and are making it freely available from this website.

Procedure for downloading MeshGenC++

• Get instructions for downloading and compiling MeshGenC++: Instructions_MeshGenC++.pdf
  
• Download MeshGenC++ directory tarball: MeshGenC++.tar.gz (latest version: 1/1/2007)
  
• Download Delaunay triangulation code from qhull.org: http://www.qhull.org/download/

Examples included in MeshGenC++ directory:

• 2d/hill_uniform: mesh around a Gaussian hill (nearly uniform grid)
• 2d/hill_bndlayer: mesh around a Gaussian hill (high resolution near hill, lower resolution away from hill)
• 2d/square_circ: mesh on a square domain with a circular hole
• 2d/star: mesh in a star-shaped region
• 3d/cylinder_sphere: mesh on a cylindrical domain with a spherical hole
