My Syllabus for the discussion sections.
Random Comments: These are some random comments from student questions, things I feel that were not emphasized or explained well in the discussion, things that I messed up and do not have time to go back to etc. (I have been sending a lot of emails about these, but it is hard to keep track of them, so I decided to have them all in one place!)
MIDTERM EXAMS:
Rubric for problems 3 and 4 of Midterm Exam I
Review
Worksheet for Exam 3 (with comments)
Review
Worksheet for Final Exam
Notes about midterm exams: I suggest looking at the problems carefully. Even though the grade you got in each of them is important, it is MORE important to know EXACTLY what went wrong, or else you might repeat the same mistakes in the final. I recommend trying to solve all the problems from scratch!!! If you have any questions about anything, please come and find me!!!
OLD EXAMS:
The Library Website has some old exams from previous times this class was taught! Check them out!!!
PRACTICE EXAMS:
ANSWERS!!!
Answers to some of the homework problems I had prepared for the discussions, and also to some of the problem set I gave.
Answers to some problems from the book, courtesy of Dan Turetsky.
Also, make sure you check the webpage of Meghan de Witt! She is one of the other TAs for the same lecture with prof. Kunnen, and always puts answers to the even numbered problems from the homework, as well as worksheets with their solutions!!!
Notes about answers: I am not a big fan of giving away the answers. I would rather explain the same problem 10 times rather than write down the answer once. The important thing is not only the answer, but also the procedure. Please feel free to ask me about anything, even about the problems whose answers you have.
EVEN MORE PROBLEMS!!!
And as if those were not enough problems already, here are some other webpages with Math 210 material:
This is the webpage of Han Peters, who is teaching the other two lectures of Math 210 this semester. I would suggest trying to do the homework problems that he assigned, especially the ones from the Review Exercises at the end of each chapter.
Here
is a page of prof.
This is the webpage of Michael Schroeder when he was TAing for Math 210 in Spring 2006. There are a lot of things in his page, for example, these worksheets with their solutions!
Here you can find a page of Christine Lien who was a TA for Math 210. She has some worksheets and their solutions.
Last but not least, here is the webpage of Rob Owen where he has solutions to some quizzes and exams from the all the classes he has taught in the past. Make sure you click to the Math 210 quizzes and exams!
Other comments:
- I have four discussion sections, so if one day you cannot make it to you regular discussion section but you can come to one of the others, by all means do so.
(Please do not do this all the time though!)
- As you can see, I always keep adding theory, problems and answers! Those are useless if you do not understand what they mean and if you do not spend time trying to solve them. The only way to learn a subject is to work hard and talk to people about it. So please make sure you do so.
