DIRECTIONS TO VAN VLECK FROM CHICAGO (driving time from Chicago is about 2.5 hours.)
Exit I-90 at U.S. 12/18 west (the Beltline Highway) and follow 12/18 for 3 miles to the Park Street exit. Go right on Park Street (north). Follow Park Street all the way to University Ave. Turn left on U Ave. Take right on Charter. Take next right on Observatory drive, Parking lot 11 will be on your right. Park in Lot 11, that's on the lake side (north) of BASCOM HALL, the main old building of UW. Van Vleck is on the south side of Bascom Hall. Come to my office in Van Vleck (F. Waleffe, Room 819) and we will take care of your car.
If you are staying on Langdon Street (Lowell Hall (608) 256-2621 or Madison Inn) keep going straight on Park street until you reach Langdon Street. Turn right on Langdon (if you go any further on Park, you'll fall into Lake Mendota). Lowell Hall is 200 yards on the left side and the Madison Inn is in front of it on the right side of Langdon.
