Spring 2018: Elementary Topology

The in-class midterm exam will be on March 1.

The final exam is on Wednesday, May 9, from 2:45pm to 4:45pm at SOC SCI 6203.

Topics: Basic notions in topology such as metric spaces, topological spaces, basis, continuity, connectedness, compactness, product and quotient topologies.

Textbook: James Munkres, Topology (2nd edition)

Grade: Homework and class participation: 40%, Midterm: 20%, Final Exam: 40%.

Homeworks will be assigned regularly and will be the main source of problems appearing in the exams. There may be notions in the homework problems that are not defined in the class, for which you will need to read the textbook yourself.
