Math 751: Introductory Topology I

Alexandra Kjuchukova, Fall 2017:

Richard Kent, Fall 2016:

This course is the first part of the standard year-long course on algebraic topology, and serves to prepare students for the Geometry and Topology qualifying exam. We will cover the first two chapters of Hatcher's book, covering, at least: covering spaces, van Kampen's theorem, singular and simplicial homology, as well as the axiomatic description of homology.
