Brandis Whitfield awarded NSF Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellowship

Brandis Whitfield was awarded an NSF Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. Dr. Whitfield is an RTG Postdoctoral Trainee in the Geometry, Group Actions and Dynamics research group.  She works with Marissa Loving and Autumn Kent in the areas of geometric group theory and low-dimensional geometric topologies with general interests in mapping class groups (big and small), the geometry of curve and arc complexes, and hyperbolic 3-manifolds.

The purpose of the Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (MSPRF) is to support future leaders in mathematics and statistics by facilitating their participation in postdoctoral research environments that will have maximal impact on their future scientific development.

Congratulations, Brandis!
